Project work session
A work block within an ongoing project: teams plan, produce and document their work independently, with milestone check-ins that make progress visible and give them an early opportunity to discuss problems.
How the method works
- 1
Quick stand-up: Each team shares the session goal and any blockers.
- 2
Project work phase; the teacher coaches on request and based on observations.
- 3
Midpoint milestone check: Are we on track? What should we change?
- 4
Documentation: Update the project log (What’s finished, and what’s next?).
- 5
Closing check-in: One sentence on where each team stands.
Material
- Project assignment
- Milestone plan
- Worksheet
You can find free, ready-made worksheets for the work phase in the TeachPie Marketplace , sorted by subject and grade, in three levels.
Common pitfalls in practice
- Self-directed learning requires clear roles and achievable milestones
Variants
- Kanban board (To-do / Doing / Done), visible to all teams in the room.
- Expert office hours: The teacher offers set consultation slots during the session.
